    The Cinema was opened as The Toledo and remains known as such to true Muirendians. In its later years it was run by beehived manageress, Mrs Peetrie, and her maroon-coated assistant, Frank. Both were well known characters around Muirend. In the early 1980s, I had a part-time job in Safeway. Frank was barred by the Safeway manager on many an occasion.
