It was used as a mens boarding house before it was taken over by Ozalid and used as offices and stores along with Diazo printing services and reprographic photography services. When it was a Model Boarding House there was a thing called the "penny line" which was a rope stretched along the corridors, where the men who could not afford a bed, paid a penny to hang across the rope for the night.

I've just found this site. Suddenly had this memory of the sugaroly mountains. Don't know what triggered the memory but I decided to google it and lo and behold it came up with Cranhill. Wow. Where I lived from age 9 till about 17. My folks moved to East Kilbride. I was just about to do my highers at the Greg. So I travelled by motorbike each week and stayed with my wee Gran in the middle tower block during the week to stay on at school. Trouble was, motor biking in winter was treacherous and after having about my 5th painful slide and fall, I gave up and did the last few months of my school time at St Bride's in EK.

I will be visiting and would love to take a photo in front of Angus Young's boyhood home. There used to be a photo of it on the internet, but I can't find it anywhere. Can a local point me to the right address?

Garnethill extends east to include flats & shops on the west side of Cambridge St. The area on the map does not reflect this. The boundary should be a centre line down Cambridge St.
